MARION (WSIL) -- Another local project is aimed at helping healthcare workers. The owner of Thai D, along with doctors and volunteers, have created a "Mobile Negative Pressure Isolation Unit."
The device is a cleaning chamber for patients with COVID-19.
It sterilizes and filters air to reduce spreading the virus to doctors and visitors.
Tests have already shown improvement of air quality.
Thanet Natisri says more isolation units are needed and some will be donated to hospitals in Thailand.
"We're going to do about 100 units and give out to hospitals. And then working on the possibility of to ship some of those units in Illinois and give it to our medical staff and hospital," he said.
He says he's hopeful ventilators will be available in the U.S. within the year.
